Kevin Myles is receiving the EveAnn Classen Leadership Award. Kevin serves as Clinical Manager of Hospice Southwest where he experiences deep personal and professional satisfaction serving individuals that have special health needs. He has been the Clinical Manager for the past eight years and has been with Southwest Washington Medical Center for 22 years. He is a strong advocate for those at the end of life and their families. At the early age of 10, Kevin lost his mother to cancer, which he feels ultimately led both his brother and him into the medical field. He has an Associate's Degree in Theology and Bachelors' Degrees in Nursing and Biology; he became a Registered Nurse in 1973. He served as a Benedictine monk for 22 years and credits his faith and those close to him who serve and minister to others in need with greatly impacting his life. Kevin is a healer and a peacemaker who quietly makes life better for many people on a daily basis. He demonstrates a true life of service through his chosen profession and his personal commitments, going out of his way to make connections with people who may otherwise be isolated. Together with his wife, Pam, of 19 years, Kevin enjoys helping others in need, whether through their church or in their civic community. Kevin has served on the Board of Directors for Innovative Services NW for many years and has held several leadership positions, including being Board Chair. He continues to be an active member on the Board, serving on an advisory board and willingly giving his time to projects. He and Pam are also members of Innovative’s Caring Heart Society and are committed to service roles in their church. Additionally, Kevin sits on the Steering Committee for Southwest Washington Life Transitions Coalition, which strives to better educate the community on end of life transitions and create safe and comfortable environments in which to discuss the difficult topic. He enjoys traveling, gardening and spending time with his animals – he and his wife are “parents” to three dogs, three cats, two parrots and five chickens. Very soon, Kevin will be able to spend more time on his hobbies and commitments… please congratulate him on his upcoming retirement!
